Purim in the Jewish calendar is 14th Adar 5773
In the secular calendar 2013 C.E. Purim begins on the evening of Saturday February 23rd and continues until sundown on Sunday February 24th. Here is a round-up of what is happening at Temple Beth-El.
Saturday February 23rd. Services begin at 6:45PM with Ma’ariv, Havdalah, a short introductory skit (the Rabbi will be sporting one of his fabulous Purim costumes) and Megillat Esther reading. Afterwards there will be a VERY kid-friendly oneg with lots of candy.
Sunday February 23rd. The Purim celebration continues with youth-led services, a Megillah reading, a spiel, a Purim song session, and a carnival. This is taking place during what is usually the meeting time for pupils at RFARS. Everybody is welcome to participate in any part of the morning’s festivities.
The outline of events is as follows:
9:00 – 10:30 AM (Services, Megillah, Songs)
10:30 – 11:00 AM (Snack/Set-up)
11:00 – 12:15 AM (Carnival & Seudah)
